A silver miner is working in a precious ore in New Mexico. While dynamiting the lode he broke his leg accidentally. He climbs out from the mine with a silver sample and gets a silver and gold certificate claim at an assay office. Daniel Plainview, the silver miner finds that there is oil near Los Angeles and started a drilling company in 1902. He adopts an orphaned son of a man that died during work. In 1911, Daniel comes to know about the oil deposit under Paul Sunday’s family property from Pual himself. He dealt with them and acquired their property.
